Zipblocks are so simple you can build them in just about any wood shop. The above presentation illustrates how you can build wooden Zipblocks out of " plywood.

While it's simple enough to build Zipblocks by hand, the use of automation would really speed things up. It would not take very much to automate the fabrication of Zipblocks via the use of some very simple robotic machinery.

We estimate that if one were to automate the fabrication of Zipblocks out of plywood that the costs of producing Zipblocks would be very low. At the high end we estimate that the costs would be about 10% of the costs of the raw materials. I.e. if a sheet of " plywood costs $20 then the blocks derived from this piece would cost $22. What is significant about this conversion is that for very low costs you wind up with building blocks that you can use to instantly build things.

Here is another way to view the significance of converting plywood into Zipblocks. Let us say that you want to build a closet organizer in your closet. Your local home supply center sells pallets of different size Zipblock studs. When you get to the home supply center a clerk and you draw up the desired closet organizer on a computer. The computer prints out a manifest of blocks needed to build your project along with step by step instructions. You then load up your truck with the required blocks and go home and instantly build your custom designed closet organizer. You do all this at very low costs and without the use of any tools.

By means of mass producing wooden Zipblocks at very low costs and by using computers to generate designs, you can build virtually anything that you want out of wooden Zipblocks at very low costs.
